Option 2

The first three characters are used. The first letter represents the year (C = 1988). The second and third characters represent the week of manufacture.

This format was used between 1983 and 2001.
Example Serial Number

This would read as being manufactured in the 17th week of 1988.

Year is Green, Week is Light Blue.
